188 Million Records Exposed in Unsecured Database

Numerous internet sites have reported that 188 million records were exposed via an unsecured database.

Pipl would like to acknowledge the incident involving data sourced from our index.

On June 18, 2019, an internet security researcher noted that approximately 188 million records containing personal information had appeared on a publicly accessible MongoDB database.

These records, which contained data collected from publicly accessible sources, originated from Pipl and were exposed by a former customer.

Access to these exposed records was shut down on July 3, 2019.

Pipl’s databases, indices, and systems were not breached.

Pipl maintains high standards for the ethical use of its data by its customers and expressly prohibits the harvesting or offline storage of our data, as stated in our terms of service.
