Pipl helps businesses make better risk decisions in online transactions, so legitimate customers face as little friction as possible. Elephant, our large risk model, is trained on more than twenty years of global payment and identity data. It powers risk decisions at the #1 card network, ecommerce marketplace, and P2P payment platform.
How a search engine for hard-to-find data became risk infrastructure for the world's largest payment systems.
Pipl launched as a search engine surfacing global identity data most engines couldn't reach. The powerful web of identities forming underneath it is what would matter much more.
Identity API v2 launched with a new capability at its core: identity resolution. For the first time, fragmented pieces of identity scattered across the web could be connected into a single, reliable picture. The largest identity graph in the world today traces directly back to this breakthrough.
Pipl launched its first fraud subscription, applying years of identity work to a new purpose: spotting fraud at the speed businesses needed. The decision to focus on fraud opened the door to Elephant the following year.
Pipl built Elephant, an AI model built specifically for transaction risk decisions. Trained on more than a trillion identity, payment, and cyber signals, Elephant assesses risk in milliseconds, fast enough to keep pace with businesses processing payments live.
Pipl launches the Trust Network, a live system that updates more than 2 billion times per day with the latest fraud patterns from around the world. Instead of waiting for quarterly model updates, Pipl's decisions stay current with the threats actually happening right now.
Pipl extended the product suite with Fraud Monitoring, which watches accounts continuously rather than only at the moment of a transaction, and Device Intelligence, which adds the story of the device behind each event. Both join the identity, behavior, and payment context Elephant was already reading.
Pipl’s leaders know a great place to work starts with great colleagues. While free food, beautiful offices, unlimited vacations, and all the other perks are nice to have, they aren’t what makes us happy to come to work every day.
We do our best to attract and retain only the best talent because the best people enjoy working with the best colleagues. As leaders, we know that hiring and developing stars is hard.
We understand that it is hard to shine every day. People make mistakes, including us. But we value honesty, willingness to take risks, diversity, and inclusiveness – overcoming the challenges and celebrating our success as a team.
